Biography

When he originally began his career Alberto Vela painted the bull fights every Sunday in Torreon Coahuila Mexico, and they would be published in the newspaper El Ciglo. He also painted murals in hotels and government buildings that still stand today. He is considered one of Torreon’s accomplished artists and claim him as their own.<br><br> He searched for opportunities in Florida, Chicago Illinois, New York and finally Los Angeles, California. He preferred to live in small towns and lived in Chino, California with his wife Guillermina and three children Rosario, Gabriela, and Alberto. After raising his children, for a period of time, he moved back to Mexico, but returned to the USA three years later and lived in Cottonwood Arizona until his death.<br><br> He was a very versatile artist and is well known for his brilliant colors in subjects such as bullfights, landscapes, seascapes, westerns, still lives and murals using mostly acrylics and oils.
